Come and learn how to make Hakka Abacus Seeds! (Vegan, Allium-free)
The Hakka Abacus Seeds or (Suan Pan Zi) is a traditional dish that my family always make for Chinese festive occassions. Whether it is for Chinese New Year, or even for Qingming Festival, this signature dish will be on the table as we remember our roots and heritage as Hakka descendants. The family would sit around the table and handroll these little balls one by one before my Popo fries them off in a cast-iron wok.
Come and learn how to make this Hakka delicacy with the addition of home-grown local edibles such as Wingpod Purslane and Culantro.
