Hi! My name is Han Jing.

I'm a sustainability educator, natural farmer and a soil lover.

My green journey started 7 years ago after I saw the horrors of our local and global food system. From food waste, to the use of pesticides, to the poor quality of food today, all of these made me realise that this should NOT be the norm and things have to change.

But, how?

Determined to make a difference, I started composting along my HDB corridor in 2015. Back then, composting was unheard of here in Singapore and all the information I could find online was based on colder climates, and of people who had gardens in their backyards. Nevertheless, I tried, and I failed. I stank up my corridor, but I tried again. and again and again. After months of experimenting, I finally succeeded in composting along my shared HDB corridor, and I have just kept going ever since. Today, I can proudly say that my family produces zero food waste (:

Ever since then, I've been invited to share my experience with others, and eventually, it became workshops and talks that I do today!

Besides food waste, I'm also a natural farmer who believes in growing food without any form of pesticides/chemicals, using ways that help to regenerate our environment. The way that we are growing our food today is unsustainable and we can do better. I focus on growing local native edibles that thrive in our region and also teach others how to grow them at home so that they can eat better as well. There are tons of amazing food that can grow in our climate (and in our HDBs), we just need to get to know them, and of course, learn how to eat them.

If you resonate with what I have shared above, I conduct workshops and talks on growing, eating and composting for people of all ages. I have had the honor to work with schools, businesses and people from all walks of life and you can refer here to see some of my past clients.

You can refer here for more information on the various workshops that I do. If you have something else in mind, please get in touch with me and I will be happy to discuss things further with you.

Keep safe!

Cheers, Han Jing
